Definition
Rhetorical figure that names a part to refer to the whole (*pars pro toto*) or the whole to refer to a part (*totum pro parte*). In naming, it allows the name to evoke the entire category through a characteristic element, or a broad name to allude to a specific product. E.g.: *La Espátula* (a kitchen tool → a pizzeria); *Caterpillar Tracks*, *Sails* (for ships in a fleet).
