Definition
Deep learning is a subfield of machine learning based on artificial neural networks with multiple hidden layers, which learn hierarchical representations of the data directly from examples. Each layer progressively transforms the input into increasingly complex abstractions, which makes it possible to solve perceptual and generative tasks without manual feature engineering.
