Definition
The practice of designing and building websites that can be used regardless of a person's visual, auditory, motor or cognitive abilities. It's made concrete by the WCAG guidelines — contrast, keyboard navigation, alternative text, semantic markup — but it isn't a compliance layer added at the end: it's a set of design decisions taken from the start. Done well, it improves the product for everyone, because clarity, structure and forgiving interactions benefit every user.
