Definition
A market state in which the brands in a category are perceived as interchangeable because they exhibit no significant differences in quality, attributes or meaning. Parity erodes loyalty and pushes competition toward price. Its antidote: identifying and reinforcing dimensions of perceptible difference (identity, attitude, narrative).
